Gary Alan Trusty was born on May 3, 1950, in Fort Dodge. In the early 1950s, Gary was one of three children to undergo the University of Iowa Hospital’s first open heart surgeries on a child, to repair a hole in his heart. This event influenced the rest of his life, which ended with heart failure. He attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from St. Edmond High School in 1969. Following his education he enlisted in the U.S Navy in 1969, serving until his honorable discharge. Gary began a spiritual quest that he pursued all his life. He was very generous with his time and money, and was always eager to help others when called upon. He was a loyal and faithful friend who is loved and deeply missed by those whose lives he has touched.
