Ever have one of those moments when you can't remember the name of something, so you try to describe it? On Saturday, I let Cayla go to my sister's house, and while she was there, my niece Jessica was trying to explain desk spindle to Cayla. The only problem was that she didn't know or remember the "technical" term for it, so she tried to Google it with a description of stabby message desk thingy.

I was able to tell her the right name, mostly because it came up in a conversation at work the day before. And, I couldn't think of the right name at the time, either.

With respects to Judith Viorst . Lemme see. Wednesday was the day that our partly-outside kitty, Rocky, came home injured. I suspect someone might have kicked him, because his right front paw was dangling, and it looked like his ribs were hurt (based on how he meowed when we lightly touched his side). I ended up calling the animal control guy (who suggested he could take Rocky to his cousin's farm and maybe Rocky will heal naturally. (Or maybe he'll just put him to sleep like he said originally. I'm hoping Rocky is okay, but have no way to know. I just couldn't find any vets willing to work out a payment arrangment with me.)
